After a day of blissful laziness on the beach, today I will discover more corners of Malta. On the beginning, the picturesque fishing village of Marsaxokk with colourful Luzzu boats. It is the pictures from this town that are on almost every postcard from Malta. This town is located in the south-eastern part of the island and has only 3,500 inhabitants. Every Sunday there is a fish market where you can buy all kinds of seafood. Everything here looks like it has stopped in time – it has not been renovated for many years; beautiful colourful tenement houses create an amazing atmosphere here. An important point to include is a walk along the promenade, which is located right on the seashore. There are hundreds of small colourful fishing boats along the shore. Nearby is the small Church of Our Lady of Pompeii; and around the promenade there is a small market where you can try fresh and delicious seafood.
The next point of the trip is the Blue Grotto. It is a cave carved by sea waves in the south-eastern part of Malta. Its height is over 40 m with a depth of 26 m. The cave can only be accessed from the sea. The water in the cave is transparent, and in the rays of the sun it shimmers with shades of turquoise and blue.
The cruise lasts from 20 to 25 minutes and the price is 8 euros.
