The days are getting shorter and colder. It’s only the beginning of autumn, and you already miss the sun. It’s nice that in southern Europe it can be warm until late autumn. Time for a weekend in the capital of Greece – Athens. Throughout the stay the weather was excellent, sunny around 26 degrees.
The first day is a repetition of the lesson about antiquity. The biggest attraction of Athens, namely the Acropolis, is located on a 70-meter-high limestone hill. Many monuments are still in very good condition. You can and even have to visit the temple of Athena Nike, Propylaea, Epistyle, Piepestal Agrippa and the Parthenon. The price of the entrance ticket is 20 euros. It is best to visit the Acropolis in the morning, when there are not too many crowds of visitors yet
At the bottom of the Acropolis there is one more historical attraction – the Odeon of Herord Atticus.
After Acropolis, I went to the Olympic Stadium, located in the city centre. One of the most significant and best reconstructed historical buildings in Athens. Located between the two hills of Agra and Ardettos, on the Hllisos River. Made entirely of marble.
