Rio de Janeiro – Tijuca Park and Botanical Garden

This is a trip that was supposed to bring me closer to the Brazilian fauna and flora. First, I visited Tijuca National Park, which is the largest urban rainforest.

It is an amazing adventure when small monkeys jump overhead while walking through the forest, raccoons sit by the stream, and at the end of the road there is a paradise waterfall with a pool where you can cool down.

After the Tijuca forest, it’s time for the botanical garden (Jardim Botânico). The area of the park is over 54 hectares (540,000 m2) of greenery, over 6,000 plant species including palms and trees. More than 140 species of birds live in the park. The avenue of Royal Palms, which resemble palm trees from California, makes the greatest impression 😊
